DATO PADUKA AWANG HAJI ABDUL WAHAB BIN JUNED
DEPUTY MINISTER AT THE PRIME MINISTER'S OFFICE
Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Wahab bin Juned was appointed as the Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office on 29 May 2010.
He
has been serving in the Government of His Majesty in various positions
for more than 35 years. Prior to his current appointment, he was the
Chairman of the Public Service Commission where he held the post for 5
years.
Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Wahab first started his career in
the Public Sector as an Education Officer in 1975. In 1983 before Brunei
Darussalam gained its independence, he joined the Brunei Administrative
Service (BAS) and was posted at the Chief Minister and State Secretary
Office. In 1984, when Brunei Darussalam gained its independence, he was
one of the first few people posted at the newly formed Ministry of
Development. During his tenure as an Administrative Officer, he was
posted to several Government agencies which include Ministry of
Education and Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources where he served
for many years as Personal Assistant to the Minister of Education and
Minister of Industry and Primary Resources respectively. He was also
appointed as Head of Department to several departments which include
Brunei Industrial Development Authority, Postal Services Department and
Information Department. In 2000, he was appointed as Director General at
the Secretariat of the Brunei Darussalam Economic Council where he was
responsible in overseeing the Council’s national economic revitalisation
initiatives during the post 1997 Asian Financial Crisis. He was later
appointed as the Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office in
the year 2001 until he retired from the Public Sector in 2004.

Paduka Haji Abdul Wahab is bestowed with several state decorations for
his excellent service to the Government of His Majesty whereby in 2002
he was bestowed with D.P.M.B (Second Class) which carries the title
‘Dato Paduka.’ Besides that he was also bestowed with S.N.B (Third
Class) in 1997, S.M.B (Third Class) in 1992 and P.S.B (Fourth Class) in
1988.
Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Wahab holds an honours Bachelor
Degree (B. Sc) in Biology from University of Salford, United Kingdom. He
also graduated from University of London, United Kingdom with a
Postgraduate Certificate in Education. He also holds double master
degrees, i.e. Master of Science in Biology and Biological Education from
University of York, United Kingdom and Master in Public Policy from
Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Brunei Darussalam.

Haji Abdul Wahab is married to Datin Hajjah Hasnah binti Haji Apong @
Abdul Rahman and blessed with 1 daughter and 1 son. He is an avid
golfer.
