
DATO PADUKA HAJI ALI BIN HAJI APONG
DEPUTY MINISTER
Dato Paduka Haji Ali bin Haji Apong
was appointed as Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office
effectively on Thursday, 11th Zulhijjah 1431 Hijriah corresponding to 18
November 2010. Prior to this, he was the Deputy Minister of
Development.
Under his portfolio is the management of the Brunei
Economic Development Board and the Department of Economic Planning and
Development. He is also the Chairman of Brunei Economic Development
Board.
Dato Paduka Haji Ali started his career in Brunei
Investment Agency in 1983 as Investment Officer and was later appointed
as the Assistant Managing Director of BIA on 1 September 1997. In 1999,
he was posted to the Ministry of Finance as a member of the team which
was tasked to set up the Brunei International Financial Centre (BIFC),
where he remained till early 2002. He then resumed his position as the
Assistant Managing Director of Brunei Investment Agency (BIA) until his
appointment as the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Finance in 2004.
Then, Dato Paduka Haji Ali bin Haji Apong was transferred to the Prime
Minister's Office on 24 September 2009 as the Permanent Secretary.
Dato
Ali received his BA (Honours) in Economics from the University of
Reading, United Kingdom. He also graduated with MBA from Imperial
College of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of London,
United Kingdom, and also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management
from the same university.
